Who has a better chance of winning?

So, who do you think has a better chance of winning in this made-up position?

Fear_ItseIf

black has rapid development but no king safety, but i think with active play he will win

Chess_Clarinet

I think Black will win, because he has got piece activity for free and not any pawns, yet White has a queen missing and pawns blocking the way.

AKAL1

Of corse black wins, pawns were meant to be sacked

Mainline_Novelty

I'll take Black.

bigbird419

I would take white here

NewArdweaden

Black.

MuhammadAreez10

Black's generally better.

I set up the position and played it against a chess engine (Rybka) on both sides, a couple of times each side, and lost them all of course. Smile But I was able to last longer as black before white's advancing pawns win the game.

With the white pieces there are just too many weaknesses to overcome. Black's queen knight on b8 comes right after your weak square on c2, and black's rook on h8 is already aimed at your kingside.

So yes black is better in this position as I suspected. Technically the material is about equal because white is down a queen (worth 9 pawns) and black doesn't have his 8 pawns. But black's built in piece mobility with no pawns obstructing should win the game, if you're not playing against the computer that is.

I'll try the position in Chessmaster vs Chessmaster :P.

The resulting game:

Note that that was on a 1 sec/move time limit.

Thanks aberki1234!

Here was one of my tries vs. the computer as white. There's just nothing you can do with so many pieces pointed at your king.
