WHY DO I SUCK!?!?!?!? Like holy cow I do not deserve to be at 1563 rn also btw in both games I kinda got under time trouble (THIS ISNT AN EXCUSE FOR ME PLAYING SO BADLY BTW) which makes me even stupider cuz I was spending SO much time and it was 15+10!!!!!!!!

You need to learn endgames. Also the first game, that 1660 won 35 points, so I’m guessing he is a starter who is rapidly getting better or a person who took a break and dramatically improved his skills.

ChanMan4

ok how do I learn endgames

ChanMan4

also btw that guy who was 1660 is now 1500 I think he tilted

GavinTheKing668

There are lessons on chess.com plus useful books

GavinTheKing668

If he tilted, it is because he hasn’t played for a long time and just got lucky

Woah woah woah ChanMan calm down.

I've noticed some common things in a lot of your losses:

1) You lose with the alapin a lot. I notice you missing basic opportunities early on, like d5 in the first game and b4 in the second. Maybe you need to review some extra ideas?

2) You miss opportunities to gain space. When you can grab space without weakening any squares too much, do so! They restrict your opponent and give you an opportunity to start an attack. Remember, outmaneuver, THEN attack (thanks to @blueemu for that).

3) You miss opportunities to kick a piece + added benefits. Just kicking a piece doesn't always do something, but it very well can. If you can kick a piece, see if it accomplishes any of the following: develops a piece/aids in development, gains space, moves opponent's piece onto a bad/worse square, removes key defender/attacker, or restricts opponents development or attacking potential (by not allowing them to outmaneuver you!).

ChanMan, I hope this helps, and remember I'll always be here for you can you can dm me whenever. See you at 1600!

Thanks for the advice. I think the alapin is kinda failing me right now. I always get into a good position with 2 pawns in the center, but then I don't know how to convert the winning position. Its especially hard when I'm not up any material and my position is good. I didn't even have an attack! I will try to remember everything you said here. I'll screenshot it rn

A really good opening for white is Catalan, which is more advanced, so I would recommend for like 1500+

ChanMan4

well I'm playing bishop opening which my coach said I should play instead of Vienna gambit. also Im not a fan of d4 to be completely honest. but I guess with d4 I could avoid the sicilian which I have bad results with
