I remember a while back when I was playing on chess.com during a six hour drinking session, I managed to capture my opponent's King but then inexplicably the next day I could not find any record of the game. My opponent obviously hacked chess.com and deleted the game out of embarrassment.

You can't capture the king because he has better lawyers than you!

now  i would say checkmate is only for 2 player capture the king is the base of chess i feel

2 player capture the king if not move king while its check opponent would capture the king in next turn

4 player  = 4 turn without capture the king its inaccurate and checkmate system fail there

Why can you not checkmate someone after killing the king it’s the rules of chess isn’t🤨

Why do we try so hard to capture the opponent's king, but are never allowed to capture it once we get in proper position? It makes me so mad sometimes that I have to announce check or checkmate. Especially after thinking and playing so hard. I just want to capture that piece. Just once. Has anyone ever captured the king? Is there something I'm missing here?

Why can't you just break the opposing quarterback's legs in Football?

That would seriously put him off his game, wouldn't it?

Easy, when you have checkmated your opponent’s king, just say “your turn” and when they move their king, capture it!

capture the king only need 3, 4 player onwards you can murder the king u like to do that happy.png go ahead play 4 player chess

If you checkmate the king the maybe black has no move even one which leaves him still in check so no chance to capture next turn.

FtFIghterBEN

just play "fog of war" chess, you must capture the king, allowed to leave the king checked (it usually because you cannot see it)

Kowarenai

i guess its just cause your aim is to checkmate the king, it never is meant to leave honey 💕

diduseethatcomeing

after checkmate there is no meaning to continue till cap the king . if there any even small chance reason to continue like Figther tell fog of war then it should be continue as cap the king

You can. After you checkmate your opponent, then the piece that delivered checkmate takes the king.

when I defeat my opponent in chess, in discord voice chat, I post a self made image of a king between two loaves of bread, aka king sandwich tongue.png (Yummy!!)

why won't your opponent just resign he have to make a move so you can take his king but its wrothless no matter what he do its done so i think they removed it

Only legal moves when you're in check, is to: 1. move your king 2. block the check. If you do anything else, it's an ILLEGAL move. When you have no legal moves, and you're in check, it's checkmate (ladder, 2 bishops checkmate...). If you have just king, you're not in check and you have no square to go, it leads to STALEMATE (1/2). Which means: fork=make me angry

Because it's the rules.

You forgot 3. capture the checking piece.

HowdyHowdy122

I think there should be a Genocide mode where you have to take all the opponents pieces.

I want to eat opponent's king ): I want an animation of it
