e4 is aggressive opening. it scares them when you show signs of manly talent!!! bet you if play a4 more often no one would ever abandon against you again! or the Amar opening! 😂 that one won't scare them away ether!!!

Maybe I should just start playing 1.B4 as white, "the Orangutan", it is actually viable, just to see what they do.....but seriously, many of the higher rated players swear by 1.D4 as white because it is aggressive, and I never abandon a game as black against that.

I've not personally experienced this. I've had people abort games, but never a full resignation.

Sorry, used the wrong term I guess, to me abort is resign before it even starts....maybe even worse than a normal resign?

wolfgang37

nah abort is just a "sike I don't actually have time for this" or in some cases "your opening is B.S." / "I got the color I didn't want"

They might have something to do

Bet they would not abort so frequently if they lost the points.

Maybe they resign because opponents mother would ask him to wash clothes or buy some vegetables. xD

And you cannot deny your mom because she might cut your pocket money.

I do this a lot. I probably just don't want to play whatever opening you've chosen, so I resign. I always resign as black against the London for instance, because I just find it super boring.

Some players resign early to intentionally lower their rating (called sandbagging) so they can win more easily in future games.

marklovejoy

Sandbagging to get into a tournament where their rating is too high for the tournament at present .
