Why do some chess players allow their game to time out?

Most of the time they just lose connection to the server.

some times theres more interesting stuff to do than play chess

Ratings are not affected if the game lasts fewer than 4 moves.

People think they are going to lose, can't find a way to stale mate, and are too prideful to resign, so they just wait for it to time out so that their opponant thinks they were out of town or something. ANYTHING more honorable than resignation or checkmating, or even drawing.

I personally agree with 'Woton' of the United States. Why play more than one game at a time? It doesn't make sense . In my view it is not unlike playing against an opponent who is rated that much lower than you, ie. no point. If you played, as I do, one game at a time, you would finish legitimately. If that were the case the contest would inherit more meaning. This morning I rose to check my opponent's move which would have been made over night. He, or she, ' ran out of time '. How do you think that makes me feel? I was playing black, with a lower rating! Think about it.

Obviously she must think so. She signed up the same day she posted that, and has not signed in to chess.com since. That was over a year ago.

I wonder what was her second post was ?

For the fun of it, here is the one and only game she played on chess.com.

I found this one in your notes too -- a real shocker.

Actually if you dig through Anyone's notes on chess.com I'm sure they all contain this message.

LOL. Yeah and it must be really hard for him to decide who to unblock and who to "block again" since he is only allowed to block 200 people at a time. Poor fellow!

orangehonda

I know, I keep waiting to be unblocked to make room, but I guess I'm on the extra naughty list Laughing   (I did go out of my way)

You could try serving some time in his detention group. Laughing

To feel like a member of the in-crowd, it was important for me to get blocked sooner than later.  After repeated requests, taunts, and even the dreaded name misspellings, I joined the detention group without being blocked and started a new thread about... I forgot what it was about actually but it did finally get me blocked... from the group too so apparently there is no redemption for me.

I had to get kohai to fix a bug that kept sending me alerts about the detention group even though I had been booted out of it.

I don't even know why I was blocked. I think it was for agreeing with Honda on some issue. Perhaps I disagreed with something he was about to say?

Maybe you disagreed with his self described "conservative" limit for players of sending in only 3 tickets per day to chess.com complaints.

Oh yeah I forgot. He keep two lists. A blocked list, and a permanently blocked list. You must be on the latter. Alas, there is no hope for you.Cry

kco

I didn't know this Laughing lol.

I somehow feel like I'm higher up on the social ladder or something.  Next chess.com snooty party I can name drop window's 7 and how I'm on his exclusive permanently blocked list.  That's right, the windows 7.
