Maybe because everyone (I suppose) has all English letters on his/her keyboard. Imagine you would need to write in Slovene! And find now "č", "š" and "ž" if you can! (I don't have anything against CZ, I know they will beat us! :D)

I was having a conversation with a couple of old-people, and the subject of languages came up, It was brought up in said conversation that english has become the global language of the whole-wide-world, so I said, thats actually because english is the natural language of the human being

one of them said, oh is that right?

when has it peaked: after it vacated the territories of other nations and gave them their independence freely and trained their elite to be the officials and teachers at schools so was English got to where it is today.

When Britain ruled the waves and had colonies..The empire..The industrial revolution.. We were the center of commerce.So when other countries wanted a piece of the action,they had to learn our language,as we learnt theres,but when other countries went to do business with each other and as we did business with most they simply adopted one common language..ENGLISH.

The roman empire was the same..Latin..Through assimilation and later catholicism the language moved to Spain n' Portugal and as Spain and Portugal had similar ideas of enterprise they sailed to the south Americas.Hence Latin speaking south Americans.

cause chess.coms owner speaks primarily english. As for why its most spoken look it up it should be obvious since china holds more people than america and all other primary english speaking countries.
