I hardly consider chess a sport. It’s similar to saying bingo is a sport but there is no “physical prowess”.
Why is chess a sport?

Because the words "Sports" and "Athletics" are two different words with two different meanings. The question you should be asking is why is Tina Turner in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Judas Priest is not?

The link is bias and would open up other games such as poker, checkers, monopoly, scrabble, marbles, tic tac toe, crosswords, spelling bee and connect four as being a sport by the same definition.
I don’t see chess nor any of the above games demonstrating “physical prowess”.
A basketball player dunking a ball is physically impressive where as myself and a basketball player can both move chess pieces are two different classes.

Who would survive between a pro MMA fighter vs a GM in physical fight?
Both require mental war and tactics.
I would bet on the MMA fighter.

Lol at chuck, no offense but would love t hear his thought process on that one. Thank you internet for making me feel content with my lot. Can always count on the internet to make one feel like a genius

Crazy, right?

Anyways, these threads comes up quite a bit and usually concludes with being an ego stroke for chess players.
The other coin being chess is for smart people?

It’s delusional when the internet is the centre piece of your contentment.
Eat your heart out.

I am watching it right now on NBC SPORTS NETWORK and Ian is not allowed to display a Russian flag because WADA the governing body of SPORTS has penalized Russia for SPORTS doping.
