Hello all! I was wondering, why isn't chess played at the Olympics? I mean, it has all the requirements necessary for it, right? The requirements are usually: 1. The sport must have an international federation recognized by the IOC (FIDE was in 1999, if I'm not mistaken) 2. The sport must be practiced in the whole world. (Chess, of course, is an international game). 3. It must follow criteria like anti-doping (In chess I think it means to have an anti-cheating policy. 4. It must be popular among young people and have a large television audience. (Nowadays chess has it more than never) So it looks like chess fulfills all the criteria to get in the Olympics . What do you think about it?

In my opinion #4 doesn’t fit with chess. Anyone who doesn’t play would find it boring to watch on the TV

I see your point, but isn't the number of chess spectators (or players) big enough for a international audience?

Like, look at the world chess championships audience. It's huge!

Because chess isn't a sport and the Olympics are already boring enough.
