Why isn't Crazyhouse more popular?

I think Crazyhouse is a fantastic game! I love the unpredictability of Crazyhouse and the dynamic attacks that can occur.  Crazyhouse allows people to show their creativity and resourcefulness.

It seems the popularity of standard and chess 960 has really increased on here during the past few years. However, Crazyhouse it seems as not enjoyed a massive boost in popularity. For example, a 1 minute CH arena scheduled for 8:45 PM Est was cancelled yesterday due lack of enrollment. It often takes a while to get paired in a 3 minute Crazyhouse game. Also, it seems like there are not a lot of new players who give Crazyhouse a try.  I am just perplexed why Crazyhouse is not more popular.

I think the reason it is not more popular is because people have never tried it. Maybe if they tried it they would like it as an alternative way to play chess.

Humans are naturally reluctant to change and feel comfortable playing with known rules and well-controlled strategies.

I think it is a similar case to 960. It has only become popular when the Club Administrators have strongly supported this format and offered this possibility to the Club members.

Only later, seeing the great interest that 960 has aroused on the platforms (the only place where 960 can be played), TOP players and the platforms themselves have shown interest in the modality.

At my Club we have always strongly supported innovation and new formats. It is even possible that in the future we will expand our activities to new chess modalities.

Personally, and this is what I can talk about, my Club is always open to new initiatives. But that takes time, new Administrators, and the commitment of other Clubs.
