Why most players on chess.com deny rematch?

If I accept a game challenge, I am accepting a single game challenge, not a series. I only play when I have a few moments. Perhaps you should learn to accept your losses. I know I have learned to accept mine, which come a little too frequently for me. wink.png

I also have a few questions about things that are never discussed here:

1. I know the <insert opening here> 20-30 move deep, but im still dropping pieces.  Should i study more openings?

2. I am an agressive/tactical player.  What opening should i play?

3. I am an agressive/tactical player, that is looking for an agressive/tactical opening gambit, that is agressive/tactical, but safe, and guarantees me an openig advantage with no risk.

4. I dont have a rating, but an online estimator said my playing strength is 2600.  Can i play in GM events?

5. I am an agressive/tactical player thats rated 600.  What should i do to get better at tactics?

6. I am an agressive/tactical player that has trouble with the Accellerated Dragon.  My rating is 251, what do i need to do to become even more tactical?

The last time someone took issue with me not rematching I had played about 15 bullet games against him winning 10-5. He took the time out to post 'so cowardly' on my wall. Perhaps he felt it was courtesy to play a 20 game match and thus he still had a chance to level the scores.

Perhaps Chess.com can come up with a challenge system that sets a number of games and makes it clear to the opponent that accepting the challenge results in more than one game.

It would be a good innovation to be able set a best of 3 or 5 or something. But yeah there's a lot of childishness about, usually the faster the time control the more verbals.

That's why I don't allow non-friends to post on my wall or chat in live chess.  Too many immature sore losers.  Some will continue to request rematches no matter how many times you beat them.  We don't have an obligation to keep playing someone until he finally wins.

There are two good reasons for not granting an immediate rematch.  One is lack of available time to devote to chess. The other is a desire to experience games against many different players.

If you challenged someone, played with Black and lost and don't get a rematch, send your opponent a courteous message asking him/her to challenge you.

I have no time for a rematch. I'm busy conquering the world.

I will grant a rematch if the game was close and it was decided in the endgame with relatively equal play the whole game, but if you get your queen trapped on move 13 because that b2 pawn was too juicy I'm gonna move on

In Daily games I almost always accept a rematch. in Blitz I never accept a rematch I don't know why it's just the way it is.

No one cares that much about rematches unless they want to make the game weirdly personal. Maybe I'll assume rematches against friends I play often. Against random people on the Internet, why care?

That's why people say they have a life out of Chess.com. It means they have more important things to care about than creating childish arguments over the Internet.

It's because they know you will cheat when you play them again.

I've actually had that happen a couple times. Just one reason I never rematch.

Just as many people are mad when their opponents don't rematch after winning.

My only conclusion is that some people have no lives and want to fight over everything.

I find it amazing how many people apparently believe that the same players who had the courage to play them initially would be afraid to play them again after winning!  I'm trying to understand the logic.  I'm not afraid to play someone I've never played before but the idea of playing someone I've already beaten scares the crap out of me!  What planet do these people live on?

PhillipTheTank

I find the notion of being frightened of playing a board game pretty hilarious in and of itself.  The real issue is the ego of the person wanting a rematch.  Don't take the game so personally.  Just play someone else; there's no shortage of opponents.  Can you just not stomach the thought of someone on the planet thinking they might be better than you because they beat you in a chess game?  It seems so weird to me.

I accept rematches 90% of the time, but when a woman comes into my office, sits on my lap and sticks her tongue in my ear, I have a hard time thinking the 7-8 moves ahead I need in order to beat people.

You wish.
