mmmm....i still have bugs EVEN I HAVE PREMIUM.THEY HAVE TRICKED US.
Why pay for this?

It's a money grab.
Obvious... but maybe a short term investment is my question.?
Free sites abound. 1 in particular.
Ashley lost his shirt investing in a mistaken assessment of $ to be made off the chess community.
I wouldn't mind a few bucks, but for this gawd awful lag of loading pages, clicking on daily games, even typing here. erik is out to make $. Bottom line. It's not about the chess.

Besides, if you can't afford .57 cents a day, you need to get off the internet and go get a job. geeezzze
You don't work. Stop lying. All companies require a full disclosure now. And we all know you touched children.
Reported.

Thanks Bacon
It's promoted that by buying a subscription, a faster connection is assured.
wow, so the site is rigged against those of us that don't pay...that explains it

The Diamond sub gets you all the videos.
just watch YouTube for free chess videos....many of them are from this site even....

I'll say it: I honestly don't understand all that well the players who complain about the premium prices. I will admit that it would be nice if chess.com dropped the Diamond membership to about 10.99 maybe 9.99, but for 14 dollars a month you get a wealth of resources here. Do some actually see how many chess lessons are available here (Chess Mentor)?

Well the big thing the Diamond gets you over the others is the video. There are hundreds of very comprehensive study videos. I wanted the Platinum, but the videos were what I was really after, so I'm gonna see if it's worth it.

As much as i am enjoying the diamond membership, i am still on the fence about some things. Yes, i knows its only $99/year. But some things dont sit right with me:
1. Reporting spam.
I was diligently reporting the indian spam in the "Report spam here" forum. After doing this for awhile, i get a reply that says dont report the indian spamming here?
2. Reporting site violations.
Apparently premium members get priority when reporting site/toc violations. That i dont understand.
3. Tactics Trainer.
The problems seem ridiculously easy for the rating they are given. I do not need, nor want the ego feed that comes with the mindset of "easier is better" I prefer learning, and increasing my chess knowledge over having my ego stroked.
4. The Forums.
Honestly...what more needs to be said? I have seen more mature/informative postings on yahoo chess. I mean seriously...what is the point with all of these "Count to..." "Hi" "LOL" "I was hacked" "My opponent cheated" "Why is my connection so slow on my phone?" Seriously?...its a phone.

Half the time daily game boards freeze up, or lag is a minute to load, can't switch between games, so many issues.
Is paying a subscription any better ? If they can't get it right to start, why should I expect different? Maybe a scam to get my $ ?
I think you're focusing on the wrong thing: is paying for a better Internet Service Provider worth it?
I have cheap internet DSL service. I haven't played anything faster than 10 min games, but I have never had trouble with chess.com.

@Prof... for what it's worth, I'm very happy with Chess.com. I don't play (much) rapid or any blitz, but I've never had problems with my connection. For me, the premium (diamond) membership is a good deal: I like ChessTV, the unlimited tactics, the video lessons (which I badly need to study more...), the analysis features, etc.
why buy coffee ,oil , shares , we can do without them , i will miss coffee though
