In many cases chess goes from childhood.

It’s fun and I played against a classmate last year and I lost to him but I practiced more about chess and I know more about chess (openings, tactics, endgames, etc)

so in kindergarten there was this short ahh kid with glasses who was good at chess, so my chess teacher (we had chess class in our private school) pair me with him, and after he beat me, he got cocky and boastful which pissed me off really badly so i actually payed attention in class, and as a fast learner (i also play basketball, football and soccer as hobbies, not good at them) i eventually got better than him at chess so he started acting like a crybaby and such and i was never that happy. (i surpassed the cocky kid in 2nd grade) my chess teacher realized my talent and told my parents abt it, so they enrolled me in classes with coaches and i got better and better, and now im in high school, 1800 USCF, with 2100 chess.com elo
