People who actually think he can become a Grandmaster are naive to how it works.

He would have to reach 2500 FIDE, his peak is 2421 five years ago.

He would also have to gain 3 Norms.

That means playing in events that are a minimum of 9 rounds and must include at least 3 Grandmasters in the draw from seperate countries.

He would then have to acheive a tournament performance rating of 2600.

If he's peak rating is 2421, you cannot expect him at the age of 30 to achieve one Norm.

Especially considering the huge time constraints he has, he has his fingers in a multiple pies.

He would have to give up his youtube career, twitch, writing chess books, writing chess courses, touring, commentating and God know what else, just to fully focus on studying. And that is hardly ever likely to be worth his while, he's be giving up an annual income of 7 figures and for what, to have a GM next to his name, at this point, it's not worth it for him.

As Hikaru once said, there is a small window of opportunity in your teenage years to acheive this, once that's gone, it's highly unlikely to happen. I think Levy took a break from chess during that period.

When Levy does this videos on tournaments he's in trying to gain a GM norm, it's mostly for content, he must know that that boat has sailed, anyone that knows the actual requirements and time it would take to win a norm let alone reaching 2500, FIDE or TPR of 2600, knows 'the Road to GM' is all just smoke and mirrors. Creating content for the gullible.
