Interesting thread @aa-ron1235!happy.png

not sure but this thread might be better in the (variant thread).

But I will say that I think the hunter is worth about 4.3 (more than a bishop or knight, but less than a rook).

Its moving ability gives it a value of 3. It's capturing ability gives it a value of 5 (better than knight). It has to do one or the other, so it's somewhere between 3 and 5. (my best analysis)

Also, there might be some discussion about bulldog pieces in the (bulldog club).happy.png

Since the board is bigger, and since there are new pieces, it would change the values of the knight, rook, bishop, and queen too.

As a simple example, on a smaller board, like 5x5 or 6x6 the knight would be worth a lot more. Probably more than the rook... but the rook would be worth less.

Other ways to think about it:

On an empty board, a bishop can land on any (of the 32) squares in just 2 moves (or less)
A centralized knight can land on (almost) any square in 3 moves or less (5 squares take 4 moves)

But in your variant the board isn't square, so for example a bishop that starts in a corner it will need 3 moves to reach some squares even if the board is totally empty.
