What we see in this thread is the backlash from all the people who identify themselves through a group of people. To them, saying chess players are assholes is like saying that he himself is an asshole. This is a very weak approach to realising oneself as an individual.

I have a question that goes beyond the difference, between a stereotype and a definition. I'm just not sure what it is called when something is accurate, as it is described(though potentially offensive) even if it isn't all of the time, or the verbage to describe such an idea isn't well worded.

It seems to me that some people feel, it is unavoidable in life and don't feel like being politcally correct. I, on the other hand,don't really care if I offend someone because, I am smart enough to know that I can't satisfy everyone and if I could, why would I ?

Adversly, I am sure not everyone puts not offending me at their highest priority, though I tend to put my feelings aside and atleast make a distinction when one can be made as to what is what...Why don't other people? I fail to realize how acting as foolish as people who are the catalyst for your negative feelings, is in any way gratifying, knowing you are no better, if that is how you conduct yourself.
