Alt accounts allowed?

I have seen a lot of people with alt accounts, are they allowed? Is it only allowed for titled players?

Sometimes the site will allow a second account, but they must be approved by support and are generally for specific reasons. An example is titled players so they can practice without people knowing who they are.
How is that even a good reason? Titled players are not celebrities that get bombed with notifications after doing one thing. I don't understand how that does anything for them.
They do it because their opponents can check the accounts 'opening book' to see what openings they play. They use the second account to play kind of anonymously, so when they play in PCL or something like that, their opponents won't be able to prep for them.

What do you mean by "opening book?"

Some titled players stick to their openings, like take for example, the English opening. If their opponent notices how they generally move around with their pieces in the English opening, what possible alternatives they play, the opponent will get to know the best defense and thus get a good preparation.

What's up world? Yeah, you! I'm Travis Scott, this is my McDonald's order. Follow me! There's my Quarter Pounder™ with lettuce, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, and bacon. (Yeah!) Here's my fries. Sometimes, I do this... then I dip them into barbecue sauce. Oh yeah, and my Sprite. Same order since back in Houston. You could try it too. Gotta go! The Travis Scott meal, just $6. Say Cactus Jack sent you.
