I clicked it by mistake but Norton Antivirus caught it immediately, had to reboot the computer but I haven't had any issues since.

Haha, you got lucky! There are some sneaky spies that seem like they are selling you nice antivirus programs, but infact, they actually aren't antivirus programs, they actually let more programs like keyloggers and Trojan horses in, so that they steal your information, without you even knowing about it, thinking that you have an antivirus to block all of it, but instead you are actually weakening your own computer.

Wow its quite easy to find malware ads

this one removes drivers needed updated, not updating them like it says, and then charges you money to reinstall them. It also makes it near impossible for you to reinstall them manually. That uninstalls things like your mouse and keyboard. I think you don't want that to happen. hijacker alert

Notice the report button at the bottom, click on it to report the ad, so that you don't accidentally click on it.

I usually ignore such ads anyway.

Adblock removes ALL of these ads.

That is why we should all buy 1 year diamond memberships Cool

Avatar of Pre_VizsIa

adblock is free, and I had it - but I still got a premium membership.

i am looking into this ASAP. i have no idea why google doesn't screen out these ads :(

Avatar of blueemu

Thanks Erik. Glad I could help.

Watch out for other products from that same company (they make several different rootkit-type malware), and also RegCleaner Pro, which is from a different company but uses precisely the same modus operandi.

Thank YOU blueemu. Can you educate xi_32 ?  He thinks chess.com is doing this on purpose. He doesn't know who Erik is. Be careful, he's a software developer, he knows EVERYTHING. Ya know what I mean Vern??

Unfortunately, being a software developer does not rule out paranoia.

I just checked chess.com without being logged on and well, I don't see anything, not even one ad. They have been blocked by the software I got on my PC. But then again, I get no ads, no pop ups anywhere. I guess that's why I paid for these programs. My point is it's not difficult to get rid of annoying ads.

Neither do people with any sense, because they have Adblock installed.

No, I meant without being logged on, anonymously Smile. I do get some popups in other websites though.
