The irony. YOU need to follow the TOS.
checkmateibeatu
@63- So if I said that 2+2=4, and someone opposed me, then you would join their side because it is a "shortcut to always being correct"?!
checkmateibeatu
Anyway, back to topic.

you should read what they're saying about you in the RSS. anyway, the german dude makes a great point. "bad" language is totally relative. in this case, a mostly linguistically american group have set the standard. as members here, we have no choice in live chess but to follow suit or be banned for a time. doesn't make the language better or worse, but i'm not sure that's really the issue.

Bad language here is bad language there. It's universal. Bad language is not excusable by where you are in the world.
checkmateibeatu
Btw, how the heck have you managed to get away with three years of this?!

Numb.

Rancho_La_Ballona

Once I was being subjected to a torrent of (non-vulgar) abuse from a player.  Losing my cool, I used a vulgar word in response.  And immediately a window popped up warning me to cut it out so:

1.  They do have a progam automatically scanning for such words (which is why some players use * instead of vowels.

2.  First time is just a warning.  So if you got banned I suspect it wasn't a first offense.

Excusing bad language by what country you are in (if a certain country was excused, someome could just make an account, say they are from that country, and start the bad language for as long and as much as they wish, with no fear of being punished) is ridiculous.
checkmateibeatu
@72- That is a prime example of how messed up this rule can get. The first offender should be the one punished, not the one who is just trying to defend themself.

watch your language bleater. as a kid we weren't allowed to say the word "heck" around my mummy. kinda proves my point. "bad" language is defined by those in authority. in some circles the word "fuck" isn't even blinked at; in others it's reprehensible. like I said, relative. your moronic mind will not be able to comprehend any of this, but it was worth saying.
checkmateibeatu
Did you read the part in parenthesis of post 73?
checkmateibeatu
If you got your way and this rule was changed, you could say you were from one of those areas, say **** to your heart's content, and not get punished at all.

It's worth pointing out that "heck" is often used by Americans as a substitute for an even worse word, "hell".

The English, being a fairly godless bunch, wouldn't even blink at "hell".

On the other hand, "hell" will likely get you kicked from Live Chess (or warned by a moderator... I've seen it).

i did. i'm rarely impressed with your simple, moronic logic these days.

It is common sense, that is what it is called:
ilikeflags
bleater, every post you make proves the idea that the morality of language is relative.

every time bleater speaks of common sense, a puppy dies.

Yup, his use of "heck" defeats any argument he has made so far.

I am still clueless of how flags has gotten away with three years of this. In the areas that "heck" is so bad, what is it's equivalent here?
