Somewhere between 25-50% of people use ad blockers.
BLOCKING ADS? WELL PLAYED...
I have addblockerplus and it has blocked adds for a few years, now it seems to have stopped working and the adds interfere with the game particularly bughouse chess- the adds cover part of the board. I did not even know I was playing bughouse- I still won but did not know what was going on. Cant play bughouse with the adds.

you can block specific item with ABP
I am probably just going to quit chess.com! because that is really the only solution for me. I am sick of these ads.
It seems the adds are blocked some days and not blocked other days, same with TV shows online, I think it blocks some adds or commercials and not others. It may have to do with how the adds are made

just use Ad Block Plus. it blocks anything you need. even specifics items.

+1
I much prefer uBlock Origin over ABP.
Still, if advertisement had no impact on my decision to buy, they wasted money.
I've done some work with marketing companies. A few things:
- they are never entirely sure what advertising is effective and what not. Usually a big promotion invvolves all sorts of media - you can't always connect the dots between the advertising and the sale. (...)
Sure. My point was rather than advertising, as a whole, is not exclusively an efficient way of burning money. If it was, some companies would do zero of it and spare it.
Hence, companies will only run ads with a success probability / cost ratio higher than some nonzero value (to be determined by company meetings or voodoo magic). Users with adblockers have a lower the numerator (less likely to buy because of ads) and a higher denominator (need a way to circumvent adblocking) compared to regular users, so I guess it is a bad target audience until a large majority of users are using ad blockers.
