That is not what I said. I said not everyone agrees with the changes you want or might not like. I didn't say that your desire for answers was in any way wrong/bad.

@Martin_Stahl - you need to stop posturing that you speak for Chess.com.

You don't like it when I put words in your mouth, but you write as if you speak for the Dev Team of Chess.com with authority.  Do you not see the hypocrisy?  If you are just a Moderator, don't speak for Chess.com.

I never claimed I speak for the site. You read too much into what I post or give the moderator icon more weight than it has.

You've done that before. As I've said, my posting style/methods have not changed at all with the mod status. I posted like I do now before and will if/when I'm no longer a mod.

I am member here too and don't post anything with certainty, unless it is something said by staff or supported by other things on site. Unfortunately the post link code is broken, so I don't know which post you think I posted with any feigning of authority.

How about features that make chess enjoyable

Such as a limit to the games non-paid members (one player in one tournament I'm playing has a 1000+) 10 + one tournament would be nice it would it would cut down some time outs etc.)

No bogus awards!

The ability to delete bogus awards and trophies achievements

Chess was more enjoyable when is was V2

ericthatwho

Out of 17 games I have played 4-5 have been time outs (two in one tournament two in anther)

one had 1000+ games.

And it would be nice if I could search for a game 50 points above to 250 points above my rate. I would play below to friends if it was  casual. At one time you could.

#86 is right

V2 was so simple---and more flexible, yes, in that one could define easily a range of ratings to challenge.

Interesting thread.

wow! holy crap!

i posted "news" in a group, and it was all messed up. it appears on my homepage (which it should not) and one member received it as a pm!

how is this possible? so, when i send a report to staff, it is "powered by usersnap". the function of sending in a ticket has changed where we do not see all the text we mention-you know-in case we would like to edit to be more clear for the dunderheads to understand. there are icons that make no sense unless we play around to "learn" them.

is there anything that staff is responsible for?

why is it that members realize the changes by accident, instead of any single responsible person explaining what is going on? hell, i've been here long enough to see erik's posts about family gatherings. if he has time for that, he should have time to answer us.

The news posting only appears in your activity feed for you (so that it's easier to keep track of your own activity), eg., I can't see it. (You can check that by looking at your profile page when logged out or in incognito mode.)

That news show up as PMs is a remnant from an older version of the site (V2); when the site was upgraded (to V3) they at first only showed up as club news which turned out to be unpopular among some club administrators (apparently fewer club members read news as opposed to PMs, or something like that), so the old system was brought back. (Personally, I prefer the non-PM system.)

I'm old enough to remember the days when changes (proposed or already coded) were broadcast to user groups via email & private message so all users would be .. informed.

I bet pretty soon chess.com will have a new App for the same purpose---seems to be the way of the Millennial.

ericthatwho

Return to vs2 that will fix the problem

Spacebux

V2 ... when chess.com was about playing chess.

ericthatwho

Chess.com seems to have turned into a friendly site for "Smart phones" and playing bullet games by kids in class.(it is better than listening to teacher)

Instead of patients running this asylum, we have bots running it?  "Volunteers" provide free labor to update the bots' programming?  Neat trick.  We all work "for free" and only some pay for membership.

I'm sure others can summarize the problem "better than me."  grin.png

That is the funniest thing on the internet!  LOL "explanation".

AlCzervik

hehe! note the word, "hopefully".

i sent the ticket in yesterday. i'll share any response, or, lack thereof.

AlCzervik

so, we are told that these help & support topics are now mostly for members helping out each other, and staff make it seem as if we are blessed if they post. even when they tell us nothing and direct us to send in a ticket for all the screw-ups.

it's been six days now. i've sent in two tickets and the response is squadoosh.
