Chat disabled during game but opponent's chats still come through

I recently played a 30 minute rapid game and my opponent requested chat so I accepted. I chose 30 minute games because it's the right mixture of time but constraint so I can think and learn. Almost immediately he's pressuring me to move, saying I think too much, etc. Well, that's why I chose 30 minute rapid!
Anyway, it's annoying so I disable chat...except his chats still kept appearing in a bubble over his name in the game. He kept going on...'stop thinking,' 'thinking is your ruin,' you put yourself in this bad spot,' 'you're doing this to yourself,' etc. Very annoying (and rude). And I had no way to stop it or even ask him to please stop.
Not sure I want to report the guy, but this is more if a, 'if I disable the chat, I shouldn't see any communication from my opponent from that point forward, nor should they even have the option to chat when the opponent has disabled chat.

BTW, I won via checkmate with either 8 or 2 seconds remaining. I can't remember.

That sounds like a bug.
