keep us updated on the progress, please!
Great - an API that makes it exceedingly easy to have Houdini play bullet for you...
People already do this without the API, and they get caught. Withholding a feature because some might abuse it doesn't make a lot of sense and isn't really fair to the rest of the community.

Of course it makes sense. Playing bullet against Houdini is no fun. <aking that easy to do means every 15 year old in the world is going to get their thrills ripping the chess.com cmmunity for the 20 games it takes until they are banned. Weigh that against a gee whiz API that will be used for...uh...what exactly?
No, it really doesn't.
Should we also stop allowing people to have knives because they can be used to commit acts of violence?
Potential for abuse alone is not a case for something that is otherwise useful to be withheld or banned.

We have a really active group. It would be nice to extend the ability of the chatroom to read and write messages to from a browser plugin. Also a browser plugin to notify you of new vote chess moves. There really is a long list of things that could enhance with an API.
If I really wanted to spend the time, right now -- without a plugin, I could scrape the html of the live chat and get the positions of all the pieces on the board and feed that to houdini. Getting the positions would take about an hour to write... plugging it into houdini is the far harder part.
Since you really don't seem to understand the concept of APIs, please don't rain on our request. Thanks!
I was wondering if we could get a user-accessible API for Christmas, or Kwanzaa. I always get the best gifts for Kwanzaa.
hay how are doughty hope you had a wonderful xmas and new year:) not to good with using computers I am learning. I do have a idea about runing a team is there a proper way to ask all the friends that I have on my friends list to join a team at the same time? I look at when asking a friend to be on a team you can do it one at a time. and if some one is a SA on a team they can ask up to 26 friends i think. what I am trying to say how do you all get 26 friends in one box to send invites. not shur how that is done ask each friend one at a time by righting there un in one at a time in box or is there a way to add them by using a list of your friends and tranfer there un name to put into the box. was just thnking about a faster and better way. still learning thank you brigatine-66

hey, this definitely isn't the place to ask this since it's a forum topic about requesting an API for chess.com, but to answer your question. If you goto a friend, and click "invite to join your group", you can specify up to 30 friends (per day) to invite by seperating their usernames with a comma (i believe). hope this helps.
It's been 8 weeks, so... bump.
I had an idea of a positive way to use an API. It'd be cool to have a chrome plugin that allows you to constantly be in your group chatroom, get popup messages, and post on the fly to the chatroom.
One of a thousand ways us developers could use the API to enhance the chess.com experience.
