[CHILD SAFETY]: Disallow graphic/suggestive avatars!

Sort:
Benzodiazepine

Hello there,

There's clearly a minority of players that use graphic pictures as their avatars. As in, very suggestive ones. Ones that get you caught up on their page, writing them compliments about their looks.

I know, most of you would want to punch me now, but think about the distraction and your ratings. After all we're here to play chess, no? Also, I'm sure many parents of young kids would agree that this ain't appropriate avatary.

You can clearly see, to what behaviour this currently leads to:

I can tell you 100% that the picture is fake. It belongs to a girl named "Jenny June".

They take a picture from the internets. Put some girl name as their name and the rest you know...

On her "about me" page, it says she's 19, just had b-day yesterday and is a massage therapist. From my training and experience I call bull... on this one!

Maybe you can hack up some photo detection that filters out all these images with two large skin-coloured balls.

Greetings,
Benzo and your concerned/distressed parents (I am very worried, though not a parent myself

where to start.....

well first off, this belongs as a suport ticket, not in the forum. Staff dont read forumposts, meaning you are talking to the people using the site, not the ones running it.

Second, right now we have you saying this is jenny june(porn name?)

a) we dont and have no way to check if this is a picture of jazmine_pink or jenny june unless done manualy. No automatic search can check for all people on the planet

b) There is no way to check if this in fact is not Jenny. The name jazmine_pink is a user name. In this case it seem easy, and I would guess her name was infact Jazmine, but what if her name was TheGreenRook or whatever?

Third, and this contains argument about the amount of skinn. If you meet this girl in a shop somewhere you would not have asked the shopkeeper to ask her to put on more cloths no matter how many kids you brought with you. The genneral rule being if it is alowed in public, it should be alowed her

forth. The site have rules about breaking laws. If she in any way earns money of her apperance or does anything else that violates the rules of this site, she would be banned, but untill then we will just have to live with her humongusly good looking loveballons hanging over us. (poor us) ;)

as for the kids, boys will be boys, once they reach an age where these things become interesting I can promise you they already have done a few google searches on their own. Probebly looking at girs with way less cloths.

What I find funny is that the OP himself commented on "her" page...

You are going way over the board here.

Benzodiazepine

I don't think so.

I'm glad the account has been closed: http://www.chess.com/members/view/JAZMINE_PINK

What you might easily oversee is that, I, also, am just a man.

Hilarious! :D

However, I don't understand what kind of danger something like that would cause for children.

Can someone please elaborate?

(S)he posted a pornography blog. Totally unsuitable for children. That's what got the account banned.

The account is closed now. I wanted to advertise a sillicon chess set on "her" page. Laughing

What is worse is nudity. I am surprised chess.com does not filter out the overly suggestive avatars, such as the one of user Radostina88. Please search that username at your own risk.

If this seems inapropriate to any parents I feel obliged to warn them about one very "scary" place - it's called a beach Wink

Those darn oceans!  Always bringing invaders from Venus!

Iluvsmetuna

Surely chess playing children are not allowed on beaches, don't they have signs there to keep them away ?

I'll decide what's pornographic here.  I think I have enough experience.

Iluvsmetuna

Would the next stage of evolution involve babies being born with clothes that cannot be removed ?

I was asking about dangers not about suitability.

And who determines that anyways?

I once was a child too. And I remember what happened when I saw something like that. If someone else would have noticed, it could probably have been a little embarassing. But that's about the greatest "danger" we got there. And do you know why it was embarassing? Because I didn't know why it happened cause noone had told me by then.

Do you realize that at one point in history of our species children were seing clothless individuals of all ages all day long?

I consider "danger" as a high likelyhood of physical harm. And as long as their pants are not too tight to allow some unfolding to happen, I still fail to see the dangers here.

So let your child play on chesskid.com instead of here.
