There have been a few complaints where it appears the Fair Play Policy programming is broken.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, submit a bug report here  http://support.chess.com/Tickets/Submit

In the meantime turn off all your challenge restrictions, friend request everyone here.  Challenge anyone online, accept all challenges until you are freed from rehab.  http://www.chess.com/groups/home/fair-play-transgressor-rehabilitation-centre

How is it not within your control that your battery ran out? You could have plugged the computer to the wall socket. That's plenty of control, isn't it?

So he must be banned because he forgot to change battery? Losing that game is not enough?

Who said he should be banned? I certainly didn't. I just think people should take responsibility. My netbook ran out of battery once in the one and a half year I've had it. Why? Because I - and only I - forgot to plug it in. I cannot blame anyone but myself for that. Neither can the OP blame anybody but himself for this. It's not the fault of the battery.

Do tornados count as a reasonable disconect excuse

Once wouldn't be enough to trigger sanctions.

Abandoning games 1 or 2 moves before your opponent is about to mate you looks bad no matter if you actually d/ced or whatever. If you abandon in the middle of the game, I doubt anyone would care. So, I gotta agree with chess.com on this one. But then again, I think people in clearly lost positions should resign long before mate in 2.

well I was playing when the sirens went off

You don't get restricted for abandoning/aborting/disconnecting in one game. You have to be a repeat offender, with a significant percentage of games showing the pattern (e.g. > 30% in the case of the OP). This is not about anybody's laptop battery.

Or people might flock to this site, when people with such an attitude (and the CAPITAL LETTER SYNDROME) are leaving. Smile

Nice to meet you, Mr. RantyPants.

Please see post #15: a staff member explains that one game is insufficient to trigger the system.... for that, one must build a history of behaviour that breaches the fair play policy.

browni3141

Can non-staff see someones abort or disconnect rate?

pulledclear

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. PEOPLE SHOULD REALLY ENJOY YOUR DELECATE SENSABILITIES AND INTRAVERTED POMPOUS ATTITUDE. ITS A REAL JOY.

Surely some elucidation of " abort " comments is required... if button  not to be used then why is it there ?
