Why worry? Some people say silly things when they lose.

  • #3

i suppose, but it is annoying and frustrating to get accused of cheating.

  • #4

That's defamation of character... sue him!

Being accused of cheating is the greatest compliment any chess player can receive!

well, yes and no! In blitz not really cause apparently (though i don't think so ) a lot of players  cheat in blitz.

it is the best compliment if you aren't a cheater!

  • #8

No i disagree ajttija, one of the best compliments is a very very strong player compliimenting your playing skills, not some guy over the internet!

If you aren't cheating why worry? If they have no evidence you cant get in trouble

some people are upset after losing and say things like that.

  • #12

Much more important things in life than to worry about such trifling affairs, like hungry beggers on the streets in India!!

Your opponent may be a eight or ten or twelve. Kids throw comments like that around a lot and it really doesn't mean much.

A free translation might be "I'm fed up that I lost. How can I feel better? I know, If s/he cheated I don't have to feel bad. So I'll say s/he is a cheat."

I am not sure this is a compliment, beyond being an acknowledgement that you won, but you did get the pleasure which goes with a win so letting your opponent find whatever way they can to feel better about their loss is polite.

If they are a youngster (in mental age at least) it is my experience that meeting the insult with politeness ("Thanks for the game. If you had played xxx instead of xxx I thought you would have stood well/OK/not too bad.") brings about an immediate change in tone (in the admittedly unlikely event that they are still around to hear your response).

Wait until you break 2000, then Chess.Com will accuse you pf cheating!

My landlord (who is a much stronger player than me) recieved an automatic letter which read along the lines of... Now that you have reached 2000, we are not accusing you of cheating but want to warn you that....

wow, that is funny!  I guess after 2000 then you kinda are in the cheating grounds.

I never get accused of cheating so I must be terrible.

I used to get accused of cheating at RTS empire type games, that always made me feel awesome.

At work we played lunchtime Warcraft with a guy who was awesome at it. Three of us would gang up on him and he still beat us. I think it made his head swell when we accused him of cheating! :-)

He probably had pvp equipment. I have a paladin who is almost unkillable 1v1. When someone attacks me I laugh while healing my teamates.

I have never received a note from the powers that be about this, but I have run into a load of people who have been canned for cheating.
