and if there's some sort of response like "non-premium members can't upload images," I know that they can still change their background

Hover over 'Settings' at the bottom of the tab on the left of your screen. It will come up with a pop-up button that reads 'Theme'. You can upload your own image or choose from one of the pre-set options for your background. You can also change the look of your board and pieces.
