How do you join a club team match

I've joined a club and I'm just wondering about how you can join a club team game. 

Club live matches appear in the Tournaments tab in live chess up to one hour before the scheduled match time for members of the clubs participating. You'll join just like for a live club tournament or regular Chess.com live tournament. Note that players who are members of both clubs can't participate. So in that case you'd need to quit one club before the match. But of course you'll want to make sure to re-join that club after the match.

But if you are meaning daily matches, then select Daily Matches from your club menu and join from there.

Another club event that works essentially in a team fashion is Vote Chess. Again, this can be selected and joined from your club menu.

once you join the club match how do you play against your opponent, does it automatically create a game between the two or do you have to challenge them?

When the event starts it will auto start the games and if there is a match for you, you'll get paired.
