How to complain

Why ask here? This is an old thread on a completely separate subject. (Did you notice that?)

Was this the game? It says that you abandoned the game.

If you disconnected and couldn't reconnect in time, that's just one of those things that happens. 3 minutes is a fairly long period of time these days. Blitz players have only 1 minute to reconnect.

At any rate, if you contact the staff now, there is nothing that will be done.

In the future, if you want staff to respond to some recent problem, write them an email using the Contact form on the Help page.

You can but the official advice is to try to ignore it and to block that member if it keeps happening.

I have just notice people doint that with a network switch... there is a lot of talk about that in realtime games... Chess.com should do something about that it is NOT too difficult to find....

I'm sure I can help... most game server (not chess) already know what to do

Something like that only impacts the person using it and their connection to the Live servers. The clients never directly communicate or have connection information for the opponent so your opponent can't really impact your connection.

You are not allowed to accuse people of cheating in the forum.

You have no way of detecting that other than noticing a clock adjustment. Chess.com does adjustments to account for lag. They wrote about it on the Help page. https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444849-why-did-the-clock-times-suddenly-change-the-clocks-seem-broken-

The fact is you were losing. Learn how to lose gracefully.

If you think someone is cheating, you must write an email to the staff- support@chess.com. They will check it out.

I was playing a person [name removed - David] from Poland 1604 for what ever reason the clock stop running after the board was scramble several different times I even off the person a draw to get the clock to move I was told I can't offer a draw because it wasn't my turn to move this went on for six minutes then the game came to an end I lost time ran out. Did that person cheat me out of a win?

Brendan_UK

@rodwellpoole No your opponent wasn't cheating so remove their name, it was a disconnect:

You can do some things to decrease the possibility of disconnects and lag on your side:

karkala

Dear Sir,

I one of your player in chess.com ID karkala, my email is [e-mail removed - David]

I regret to inform you that, very long time back  the clock is running of opponent, some time later the message reflected you lost the time due to time is over. That is why I started old version game again. Due to your old version is closed w.e.f. 30.09.17. There is no way I should opt new version. but there is so many problems were there. Regularly I am facing problems and I lost my point unnecessarily. So kindly look into this matter. Waiting for your reply and solutions.

Thanks,

Former_mod_david

@karkala that would have been a problem with the internet between your computer and Chess.com's servers - see https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444849-why-did-the-clock-times-suddenly-change-the-clocks-seem-broken

The old version is still currently available and looks like it will be until the performance problems affecting a subset of members is addressed, but I believe that the site puts everyone onto the latest version after a given time frame (7 days?) and you then have to choose to go back to the old version again. But as the time problem is not related to either version.

If you'd still like to ask the Support team about this, please log a request via Help -->Ask a Question --> Contact.

As it's generally not a good idea to share your actual e-mail address over the internet, I have removed it from your post - you can provide it again on the forms when creating a support ticket.

Cheers,
David, moderator
