I was sexually harassed.

In nearly 15,000 games I have never been so disgusted. I was sexually harassed by someone in chat during a 3|0 game who claimed to be a 20 year old male.

I reported it, but I'm also posting here because I worry nothing will get done about it with the lone report. I'm a male. This is gay sexual harassment.

If I knew how to go back and copy the chat text I would. But I've never been able to re-access what was said in chat after a game is over.

Shame this stuff happens in the world, but it is best if you simply make the lone report (as you have done) and move on. In my experience, chess.com is fairly good with taking some action on these things and moving on is how you can personally move forward. I don't know what was said or how offensive it was (don't tell, I don't want to know and better to keep this out of the public forums), but it can only hurt you if you give those words the empowerment to hurt. People can say some mean things, but it means nothing if you don't let it impact you.

Aha! Yes, but it's also fun to share the experience. Haha!

Thanks. I've reported other stuff in the past. This was just such an odd experience that I wanted to go a step further. 😳

Thanks for this reply. Such replies always make us feel very secured here on chesscom. I strongly condemn such acts on any social platform. Although I am new to the site, I can see many such confessions here on forums. I know you might have enabled the chat since you want to connect with fellow chess fans, but it's always good to disable it to avoid such harrassments.

Reporting never works except you post in forums
If you hadn’t done it, no one would’ve looked at it ever

It works. But, no one actually gets to know if the action has been taken. That's why it feels like reporting doesn't work. Punishment can range from warning to banning (Depending upon severity). So, if that user gets a warning, that you won't get to know and you will think it's useless to report. So, trust the moderators and just report.

Reporting works @2knight2morrow - I've had many cases, over the years, where I've reported members and action was taken. Like @Bheeshmaparva mentions, it is just that we don't always know what occurs between other members and chess.com.

Chat is just the chat, man. Someone might have been pulling the harassment card to try and upset you - it can be a strategy to get you less focused. So just ignore it and be un-f***withable. The professional can't afford to care.
