You probably got Phished. Next time you get an Email saying your account is compromised, don't listen to it or open it, log into chess.com (NOT from a link in the Email) and check for yourself. Do not ever reset your password from an Email link. Not ever. Open a new browser window and go the site yourself and change it that way.
You're just lucky you didn't get an Email saying your credit card was compromised.
Being sent an Email is like being approached by a stranger on the street. If you were outside your bank, and a complete stranger came up to you and said "I am from the bank, please do XYZ" would you do it? No? Well, why would you assume an Email is any better?
If you have the original Phishing Email, send it to chess.com support. Don't share your Email address with anyone on this site, either.

@DiogenesDue oh, the email sender seemed pretty convincing, since it looked exactly the same as the normal email notifications from chess.com. Although that might be it, the day I might or might not got hacked, my friend, who was helping me find a way through, saw in my profile that I was online, when in fact, I wasn't, which made me panic more. Maybe I'm just scaring myself. Thanks a lot @DiogenesDue! I'll be more cautious next time.
