Yes, I know this for a fact as I used an additional name change about a month or two ago. I emailed staff asking if it'd be possible, they told me they'd change my username for me once. They were very helpful :)

i don't see what would be the problem with allowing everyone to change once like every 6 months or something.
I'd imagine they probably set a limit to prevent people from abusing the option to change their username - though I really can't see anybody repeatedly changing their username for it to ever become an issue.
yeah, but how could you abuse anything only being able to change it once every six months? i can't think of any way.
I didn't mean in regards to changing it every 6 months. If there was no limit, someone could change their username 20 times a day if they wanted to. With one username change every 6 months, of course you couldn't abuse that 
yeah, i agree :D just want to understand why the actual official policy is one-for-life.
Restrictions aside, at least there is the option to change it once - and the staff let me have a 2nd change so I'm not complaining

it kinda reminds me of pokerstars regarding avatar changes... they say "we do not allow for an image to be changed more than once", though if you're a regular you can ask support every month and they'll grant it to you.
surely avatar changes are even less critical, so there must a reason for both policies which we are not getting :P
I'm not sure if staff would give a 3rd username change to anyone. I was warned that this would be the last time I could change my username. Aha it seems pointless to make a rule but not enforce it if you ask nicely :P
I have changed my avatar several times without any issues.
By the way, I have changed my username 4 times. After the first time (allowed), I had to ask them to do it for a specific reason. The very last time, I gave them another good reason. Although I don't think I will change it again, no one has told me, "this is your last chance."
Oh, fair enough! The 'ask nicely' rule works :P
