New Update makes it impossible to win speed chess

Is it just me or does it take way longer for moves to register on both sides of the board. I keep losing speed games because of the animation time and the time it takes for my opponents move to update! I’m literally waiting for an opponent move and then my time jumps down by seconds when it updates. Never had this bad of an issue before this last update. Seems like this happened before too. Don’t understand why the app is updated and things like speed chess get way worse.
