the daily puzzle no longer has squares visible, only pieces and pawns.
no board or pieces visible when i refresh game board/pieces appear but too late game is aborted

If you're on a Mac, change your board in settings. You might be able to get it to work by clearing your browser cache, but there have been a number of instances like this with Safari coinciding with an update. Not all members have been impacted, so it sounds like a client side issue but it isn't clear what the actual cause is.
Another option is a different browser.

didn't work.
i am a paying member, this severely limits my use of this site. i may need to cancel my account if that can't be fixed.

You went to Board and Pieces and changed to a different board type, hit Save and that didn't work? Or you tried a different browser and that didn't work?
there seems to be a new update to the site 'green button' i am running xp , there are bugs its not working , it may be my older operating system, but many people in the world still run xp. hope you get it sorted. hope this helps. good luck.
