Opponent needs time

My opponent has computer problems and I wish to allow him more time for his next move. Can I do this? If I put myself on vacation I seem to get extra time but his clock continues to tick. Any other solution?

Contact the site staff. They are generally helpful in such matters. I would suggest using the Help & Support link at the bottom of the page.

No in this case the only option is to do what aabbcccdd said. And if it's a tournament or team game then there's nothing you can do about it I'm afraid.

It may well be that if it is a tournament game then the staff cannot intervene. In other games they can, and have done.

What's the point if one can just change their timeout settings instead?

Sometimes people don't catch it in time I guess or don't realise that their settings aren't set to not auto-timeout.

Ok, well anyway in this case the OP knows now and simply changing settings should always be quicker than contacting staff.

True, but it is useful to know if the disaster has already occurred.

Okay.

Disablement of the auto-timeout looks like the answer. Unfortunately, I didn't check answers to this topic until too late so the game timed-out anyway. But I'll know for the future so thanks for the help.
