Hi. I'm recently back into chess since when I was a kid, so in the very early stages. When I play 10-min games, I'm around 520 and then against the computer (and normally 1,000 - 1,100 bots, that I typically beat), I'm stuck at 843. Then, when I analysed my last game against a 1,000 bot it had me at 995, even though I'm still down as 843 on the next game. I've searched for info to understand ratings, how they work, and what my overall rating would be as people quote their rating and one only, typically - but can't find anything to properly explains it. Can anybody enlighten me, please? Thanks, Gavin
The bit ratings, especially at the lower levels, tend to be overrated compared to a person at a similar rating. It's really hard to make an engine designed to find the best moves to play weaker and there's a lot of attested approximations that make it inexact.
The post game review rating is also an estimate based on both player's respective ratings and the associated accuracies. You can take the exact same game and change the player ratings, and get vastly different estimates. So those should not be used to determine actual play levels
