Tactics Trainer Bug
I have been having the same problem as well. It seems to happen 1/20 times. Is there a solution to this bug yet?
This is what I reported in ticket 101318. Erik, please review those comments and dupe 101318 to whatever other ticket(s) you have going for it.
Is it indeed a race condition, as I suggest in the ticket?
Fixed in a week!? That's excellent. Is this (could this be) in some way related to the behaviour I whined about here? :
It's not the Ajax parsing error. It has no error message. It just won't notice that you've moved, so your clock keeps ticking and you can't proceed.
This time I lost 42 points, on problem 0041495. And it wasn't because I moved too fast; apparently it's because after I dropped my queen on e5, my twitchy index finger clicked a second time before the queen had settled on tht square.
This is extremely aggravating -- especially because you still haven't correlated the bug in this thread with ticket 101318, despite my post #10 above.
On June 25, erik said in this thread:
"don't worry - will all be fixed in 1 week!"
Over two months later, it has happened again. On problem 0045618, where I as black was to play Qxh2 mate, I was unable to move any black piece, even though my clock was counting up and the prompt told me it was my move. The only way to end the problem was to move one of my white opponent's pieces, to which the prompt box replied, "Incorrect move - good try!"
To tiresomely reiterate, this is the same problem as support ticket #101318, which I entered on May 16, which support staff closed despite lack of resolution, and which I re-opened on June 22. Since then, there has been no evidence of followup from support.

that is REALLY odd. perhaps your internet connection dropped? no idea. but our complaints on tactics trainer have totally disappeared. i'll look into this one now.

odd - not sure what happened, but for http://www.chess.com/tactics/server.html?id=0045618 Qxh2 isn't part of the solution...

Thanks for your response.
I just now followed your link, and I see that in the ending position of 0045618, the cited mate, Qxh2, is there to be played. I wasn't allowed to play it, but my clock was ticking and I was allowed to move my opponent's piece, and that ended the problem with the "Incorrect move" response.
So apparently, instead saying "Problem solved", it said "Your move," or maybe more likely, simply stayed in its "Your move" state when it should have given me the "Problem solved!" message.
Maybe this is a different bug from ticket #101318, with similar symptoms.

Wait a minute, what am I thinking? The simplest explanation is that this is the same bug, that my having moved moved Bg1 did not register, exactly as the user's move doesn't register in ticket #101318 and in the posts of some other users in this thread.
In other words ...
... it ... simply stayed in its "Your move" state when it should have given me the "Problem solved!" message.
,,, exactly.
What was the bug and fix as you understand them? If there was a race condition as I earlier posited, and the fix was simply to narrow the window of the race, then apparently, the bug is still happening in that narrower window.
Aye?
In the middle of one of my tactics problems, I made a move, but the computer did not respond. I found that now I could move the computer's pieces, but not my own. I ended up getting the problem wrong as a result
This has happened to me a few times before - I wonder what could be causing the problem.
This is also very similar to the Computer Workout bug I found a few months ago
I'm not sure if this pertains to a few specific problems, or Tactics Trainer in general, but here's the problem ID - 0028506
