Time outs for dc's not even realistic

I understand why this is a thing but if I realistically have a problem with the internet the amount of time to reconnect isn't even fair. I had just won a rook, and had a minute fifteen seconds on my clock when the dc happened and I got forty seconds. I made my move and was waiting on him to make a move. It took a second to even realize there was a problem and I reload the page which loads in an instantly to see that I have lost the game.

This time frame is way to short I didn't know there was a problem until I had already timed out. No pop ups or anything just some very small red text next to my name, , my move was played and his timer was ticking down at least on my end.

I don't even want the rating back or anything because I really don't care for the rating. I understand why this is a thing because its annoying to have to wait like 10 minutes for someone in a 15+10 rapid game but a 3+2 blitz game and only give me 40 seconds? I don't think that waiting 2 minutes is a huge deal... although slightly annoying it doesn't happen that often, and i do believe this is one of if not the first game out of a thousand games or so I have lost due to dc, but dc's do happen and I should have enough time to realize the problem and refresh the page.

It would have been annoying enough to come back to the game with 15 seconds at a time disadvantage because of this but to loose entirely on 40 seconds is ridiculous when I had like a minute 15 on the clock is 30 extra seconds really that big a deal? I am so mad at this dc because I really though he made a mistake and i was getting a rook and had just flipped the game around

I don't know how we fix this problem but I kind of feel like blitz game and under shouldn't even have the dc timer since they are so short, I also believe you should get more than 40 seconds across the spectrum.

if you have to keep it at 40 seconds because its a real issue, why can't people who don't dc ever at all really be allowed a 2-3 minute dc. its as simple as how many times has someone dc'd in there past 100 games and if answer is less than X they get 2-3 minute dc timer. obviously if answer is lower than x say "5" then player is not known to rage quit or have internet issues and is fairly certain they will come back if able...

someone owes me a continuation of this game with this guy... I don't want your rating, i want to play chess. I want this game to be a correspondance game with 1 day to move so we can finish it like it was suppose to be finished or a meet up to continue with the same timers as we left off or something...

wtf just played a rapid game where they dc'd and they got a 1:40 to reconnect? Shouldn't you get less time in a longer game so you can't just troll by reconnecting and disconnecting again... and if you do at least you gonna have to work for it? but in the fast game I were things... but in a fast game where you gonna time out pretty quickly anyway we gonna give even less time?
