Time resignation

Hey, I've played a few games where I will take a big piece, such as a rook, within the first few moves, and the play will let the game stall on time, and the rating is not affected. I don't care about gaining points off such a poor victory, but I think the other player should some how be deducted. Is there anything I can do when someone does that?

i don't think, so.  I'm sorry that happened, its just people being really bad sports.  If you still have questions you can ask eric or one of the other administrators

does it matter, since you said you were not trying to gain

points by doing this.

I am here to play competitive but friendly games. I just think those kinds of tactics should be discouraged. It isn't about the points, but it's happened a few times and it is frusterating that players like that can continue to play like this. I know the system isn't foolproof but I am just expressing a concern to improve it.

When I started playing here it was the first time I got in contact with turnbased (or correspondence) chess. I were not familiar with this kind of format and I suppose I expected something similar to live chess. After 6 completed games I decided that I am not interested in completing my (then) current games, 9 of them. I resigned all nine out right. I suspect this is what might happen in a some cases, people don't understand this format of chess and lose interest after a while and then just leave (without resigning) or they might simply forget to come back and complete their games....

After a few weeks I decided to give this format another go, and have since completed a few games but I still prefer live chess.
