Was My Climate Thread Deleted?

I think chess.com removes any threads that are considered "political".

Honestly, I'm surprised your thread lasted that long.

Also, I think it's incredibly biased by chess.com to remove "political" threads, but still post their own: https://www.chess.com/article/view/on-the-invasion-of-ukraine

But Elroch’s thread has been here for years…

It calmed down after the mod warning. Opt and Diog were still going at it for a few pages but not in any aggressive way. The problem is the "no politics/religion/personal comments" is being stretched to essentially "nothing negative" which I think is absurd to target my thread over that because literally 97% of my threads here are chess related. They just don't get any views. Meanwhile spam thread after spam thread with politics/threats/war topics/dating stuff, never gets locked, deleted..etc. At least my thread was an actual topic. The worst negative thread is still better than the "clog the forum by replying to the person above you" type threads.

I doubt there was any shift in policy, rather, it was probably a newer mod acting on their own discretion. Most mods will leave a longer running thread alone, since deleting such a thread erases dozens of posters' content. If it gets locked, it can still be read.

If there *is* a policy shift, that would actually be good news...but then there should definitely be an announcement if that were the case.

Wits-end

It does seem like a rather abrupt direction unless you as the OP received some type of notice. You’ve stated that didn’t happen though. I didn’t keep up with your thread as I found much of it to be sophomoric argumentation without solid support. However, the thread is light years beyond the type of threads allowed, i.e. counting, do you like me, ask me anything, I’m leaving, etc. I’m in favor of allowing your thread to continue and deleting one or two hundred others.

Maybe Elroch has a second acount and this second account is admin or mod

yes maybe. just asking questions and speculating, right? why not just wait for a mod to respond? although granted the response would probably be unsatisfactory ...

And you asume the responding person is not a liar?

if you do, then you should boycott the site. it's a human responding mostly (after the 1st thank you email) and carries with it its own inherent deficiencies.

It is odd that they haven't. This has to be one of the top threads in help and support, usually they reply after the 1st or 2nd post, and this was just a question.

the common reason/excuse is that they're too busy (since the days of the dos attack etc) and it will take time.

i got a non-committal response for the removal of my pfp privileges. no big deal, i guess. but i'll still cry about it every chance i get, being on the internet, and therefore being an 8 year old girl.

I overheard 2 mods from the Gambino family in the hallway. One asked...."did you kill the climate hoax thread"? The other mod said..."I would never do such a thing...this is a chess site".

we still need the bedsheet and the blood. the bishop's gaping mouth should have been in focus.

this must be a different gambino.

well they did remove my face ... but no blood was shed. it was all carbs ...

Maybe if Endgame offers a reward, it will show up on someone's doorstep. happy I'm taking a video of it.....and submitting it to "Paranormal Files". They recently made changes to the user agreement. If new threads DO NOT have a Covid shot....... out you go! cry

You are lucky you weren't banned. I think the mods should not be so lenient on trolls. You started a troll topic that is clearly against the site rules, at least a temporal ban should have been used.

There is this thing called off topic forums, it’s not a troll it’s so one expressing his opinions and me and him yea we don’t agree but dang let ppl have opnions

If those are real people and not CGI/AI generated, that is scary looking in a Stepford Wives kind of way...they are dead in the eyes.

Diog, your inflammatory posts in the 2nd thread have been reported.

Lol. Go for it...I don't even know which thread you mean (Elroch's or Abyssal's) because I didn't make any actionable posts in either one.

You did in both, but only reported in one of them.

I assume you aren't linking these examples because people would laugh at you?

Elroch's thread explicitly warns "no politics" and he enforces that policy by warning and then banning (usually temporarily) transgressors.
