What bug?
Bug that ruined my game
Dude i moved to f5 and he took my pawn on f5 by exf6..... thats impossible, please run through the game and take a look for yourself
Sorry, but that is a perfectly legal move. It is called En Passant, and it is not really surprising that you aren't familiar with it. In fact, I guessed that's what this was about before I even looked at the game. Whenever I casually play someone OTB for the first time, I make sure they know about it before I play them since it can cause just this sort of reaction if I pull it during play.
Now im even more frustrated that happened. I should have known better
Well, now you know. :)
"en passant" oh yea.. lol when I joined chess.com I didn't know this move either and you know who pulled that move on me, my own sister who knows all about chess, no mercy lol but I'm still trying to understand it. we didn't go through it really, I just looked it up on wikipedia

Haven't you ever heard of en passant?

My opponent made an illegal move!? | |
LOL, even i had thought that i was cheated when it happened with me for first time, but i was small at that time.
Although i don't understand why only the pawn can capture en passant, a rook should be able to as well, right?

yeah i always kind of didn't understand why only the pawn can capture in this way. isn't the two square push by pawns also working in the same way against other pieces? that is, the pawn could have captured the first pawn if the two square push was not allowed - well that is true for every other piece also, so why only pawns get the break?
the way I've heard the story (and the way I remember the rule) is basically that the pawn who moves 2 squares ahead at the start to avoid the conflict with the opponent's already advanced pawn is being cowardly. His punishment for hiding from a fight is that he can be taken anyway.
To finish the explanation, the e.p. rule makes sense, because if it were not possible to have it available on the very next move, pawns would all lock up by shooting past an advanced pawn on the 5th rank. The game would have dried up long ago without it. Or as my computer tech pal says: "That's not a bug; that's a feature."
In this game there was an error on move 7. I was playing Black and got cheated pretty badly. I ended up resiging due to my lost position. Please fix this ASAP, very frustrating way to lose a game.
