How do I add a friend to my "live" chess list so I can send a challenge request?

Oh sorry kohai... I should have mentioned that I was referring to my android app for my HTC EVO phone. When I hit the "challenge a friend" option it gives me a message saying I have no friends on my list. I have 20+ friends(wooohooo) with chess.com and I thought I could invite them for "live" chess too. Doesn't work that way... So sad.

do you know that your friends are online?  it seems that it would required for a challenge for live chess.

When you go into live chess, IF your friends are in live chess at the same time you are, then they will appear in your 'challenge friend' drop down box.

They need to actually be in live chess to appear on that specific list (not just online).

ok... we tried that.  He was in "live chess" at the same time as me, I hit "challenge a friend" and it gave me the same message, "You have no friends yet.  You can invite them via www.chess.com."  At the same time is gives me two options, "invite" or "cancel".  When you hit invite it takes you to the front page of chess.com.  ??Yell??

I know.. not an issue at this point.  I guess he didn't like me beating him all the time.  Laughing  I'll let you know if I have other friends with similar problems.

i have the same problem, my friend has an iphone and he also tried to challenge me but i havent recieved any challenges on my android phone
