I love live chess...and watching other play (good players) is one of my favorite things to do on it... even cool to discuss what's going on with other observers...

 

one thing that annoys the heck out of me though is when there are tons of people entering/leaving the game and the chat screen is constantly scrolling...

 

ANY discussion is lost...this is annoying. do we really need to know when people are coming in and out of the room? I think there should be a fix to this problem...

 

it ruins any discussions I've seen on good games.

 

just giving my input, but I'm sure others share in my sentiment. thanks

It's my guess that this phenomenon is only a real issue for the games of top-rated players, where the number of observers can become quite large - especially with announcements of those events. Of course, you seem to be making a reasonable point regarding those games.

Why not just a list of player's currently in the room to which new joiners get added and from which users get removed when they leave.  There's really little user for a transactional play-by-play as people come and go
