@jdcannon I have stopped having this issue, I did personally notice this issue happened when I would click 'Play Online' and quickly hit the gigantic green 'Play' button before the alternate time control buttons appeared above it asynchronously. My uneducated guess was that something would download my recent game settings as well as recent time controls. I can see a callback to /callback/play/settings/get-settings, so it seems reasonable that a new game request set before that finished on the Play Chess screen would cause the issue, and you'll see the same thing if you block the URL manually.

It's because the inept SE who is loading an app or making changes within the app doesn't have the wherewithall to BACKUP the data he's mucking with.
Servers don't reset things by themselves and there is no such animal as "THE SYSTEM".
Computers are designed by people, programmed by people, and maintained by people.
Except in my music studio. The hamster has been on the lam for the summer and who knows what that rascal does when everyone is asleep...
