Resigning with time on your side

I am quite a slow deliberative player so I have never won on time even once when playing 30 minute rapid.

I only ever win by resignation or checkmate.

I have lost many times on time.

I need to force an outcome if I am to win since the clock is never on my side.

The funny thing is that recently I have won 2 games when under quite heavy time pressure because my opponent has resigned when I have managed to get a decisive upper hand very late in the game. This is despite there being a good chance that they could try and give me the run-around and see if I run out time.

Anyway I admire this spirit and I think it is good playing form to resign if your opponent has completely disarmed you.

I am not saying that playing for a 'sneaky' win on time when you are decisively disarmed is dishonourable, Just that I admire players who are willing to give up the points voluntarily when they have clearly been outplayed and would certainly lose if the game it were not on the clock.
