Home made Puzzles

For your first home made puzzle: Black's promotion may be a concern, but 1.Qxh4 controls the h4 square and doesn't lose the queen like in your suggested solution. There are simply a lot of good moves for White.

This may be one of your first puzzles. A clear open board like this one, coupled with long-ranged pieces, allows a lot of variations which you must take into account, which may not be easy if you are new at puzzles or a begginer (you seem to be ~300 ELO in rapid). Also, the objective of the puzzle is unclear. Mate in x moves by White/Black? Y to play and draw? Selfmate in x moves? Helpmate in x moves? White/Black to play and win? Etc.

Anyway, keep trying. I gained significant ELO when I started doing puzzles, so don't give up.
