1. Sacrifice for a shield

White to move, mate in 9. NOTE: the option i chose for black leads to 8 moves checkmate but it will be harder and more exciting than the ordinary variation with 9 moves checkmate.

Arisktotle

Good set of motifs leading to a forced mate. There is an unfortunately  inconsistency in the duration of the solution and the content. The nice main line corresponds to an 8 move checkmate while the "ordinary" variation leads to checkmate in 9 moves. Since it is blacks choice he will have to go with the latter one. In a composition the short mate variation is then of little value. Would be great if you could fix that!

Nice problems! I have an alternative for #2 which is a bit spicier:

Aristotle Well that's good, I didn't expect that.

Arisktotle

I was surprised as well that it worked flawlessly. It's probably not new though. So much work has been done on pawn endings!

I recently made another pawn ending myself. Because there are many pawns on the board, the likelyhood that it is an original increases but I would not place a bet on that assumption!
