Rang en problèmes

Salut ! J'ai réussi à atteindre le rang Légende 20 (soit le niveau max) et à ma grande surprise, si je repasse un niveau de + je retombe au rang Bois 1 (soit le tout premier niveau) ?

C'est assez décevant lol, j'hésite vraiment à continuer les problèmes du coup j'ai pas envie de perdre mon rang si durement atteint

Hello there ! I finally managed to reach the max level at Puzzles. And i was surprised to see that I'm about to fall to the first level if I keep doing puzzles...

That's a bit disappoiting, I don't really know if I want to keep doing puzzles. I don't want to lose my so hard-earned rank

Rank means next to nothing, the puzzles rating is more important.

Thus, starting the whole cycle over, you have the opportunity to improve your rating.

I suggest posting puzzles rating in this thread.

Ps. Besides, doing puzzles in a cycle, you memorize patterns.

I switched to classic mode from puzzle settings after the second time at Crystal tier, it's been much better. Although now I have sunk from having over 2700 to under 2500. Ugh. I had a bad puzzle streak after I had the (world record?) best streak of 965 after I stopped doing tiers. Basically what I did was only complete a puzzle when I became sure it was right. Sometimes it was clear from the start, sometimes it took me hours or days to figure out the right answer.

I stopped with that tactic basically because I became impatient. Later I discovered the puzzle records page and found out about the 965 streak. It still feels unreal to me too and I don't know what that number means if it's actually puzzles completed in a row or another number like elo gained in a row. Because the classic system doesn't show u a number of puzzles done in a row I didn't know earlier how many I had actually done.

But now with the impatient way I have gotten even some of the most basic puzzles wrong. I'm too frustrated to do more puzzles. I think I will have a little break from them or go back to the patience way.

By the way a lot of the situations in puzzles are explained in lessons. It's not a coincidence that the guy leading the lessons leaderboard is also nr.1 in puzzles (although doesn't have as long of a best streak as me). It's all about memorizing all the puzzles. Lessons help. I'm going through those now.

My favorite part of lessons so far has been the "Think like a chess player" and from that particularly the winning tactics challenges. There's a lot of the same situations from puzzles. Go check that out if you haven't & especially if you have no patience to start from the beginning of the lessons & want to learn the best stuff right away 😄(find that & more from the lessons library) Also I have been doing a lot better at rapid chess after doing the lessons (and puzzles). I hope that doing lessons will help bring a better understanding of the situations in puzzles.

So Today I discovered custom puzzles section where the puzzles are categorized. I've always wanted to know the categories/end goals since at least on mobile none are showing while doing puzzles. Also it's a great alternative to do custom ones when stuck on a hard one in normal puzzles & takes the pressure off (unrated). What a nice relaxing experience! I get to concentrate on categories like Zwischenzug, a topic I liked in the lessons section. Those have so far been over 2000 rated difficulty, that is a plus. I feel less frustrated with puzzles now after this custom discovery. So yeah there's other types of puzzles than doing the tiers if bored with that repetitive system after doing a whole round.

Random puzzles have their advantage. They help you switch from one tactical idea to another faster and easier. In a real game, that's exactly how things happen.

If random puzzles still had the category written underneath it would be better. I don't know everything about chess (yet) & I want to learn the terms. Also for the people who want to focus on hard puzzles u can set the difficulty to 3900-4000 in custom, all themes (random) or categorized. So you can stop complaining that the puzzles are too easy.

It is very common in normal puzzles that the same puzzles keep reappearing especially if you make a mistake you get a "pity puzzle" afterwards - a puzzle u have correctly answered many times. The system is babying the player. I don't see those puzzles as versatile as they could be. When you loose your winning streak in a tournament you might get a lower points opponent next time but they could still be better than you. There's no guarantees that you will win. In puzzles it's pretty much guaranteed that you get that repetitive puzzle right. With custom & more rare categories you get more versatility (u can jump to a different category every time if u feel like it) + harder puzzles if u like the challenge. I know I do. But yeah I have done more than 7000 normal puzzles and therefore I'm just tired of pity puzzles. I wish some puzzles would stop reappearing after u have done them a few times because it's just frustrating. It feels like the system is being sarcastic.

Let's be real here & admit that people like getting points and therefore avoiding the custom section even though it would provide more of a challenge for the mind. To avoid admitting the points addiction people will come up with endless excuses for not switching to custom even with actually being extremely frustrated inside. Points give dopamine. It's what all the social media platforms do to hook u. Only when reaching your personal goals u start to think about it all from a bird perspective and realizing the addiction. Doing puzzles and learning new things while you do is positive, it leads u forward. Addiction and repetitive pity puzzles for points is negative. The tiers system only enhances the points giving. At least after you completed legend level: just leave it. There's no point in going in circles 😅 But yeah points to the developers for making something new to give puzzles a new life, but honestly the end is disappointing without a real ending and no real achievement for it & going in circles feels like u are stuck in limbo - not rewarding.

What's the point of going through the whole chain of puzzles if your accuracy was only 40%?
