I know the shortest possible answer to this question can anyone find it

NirKrish, would you like an easy one or a hard one to try?

Avatar of NirKrish

I think I will start with an easy one

Although I will answer later cause I need to go right now

This position is easy to reach with a proof game, but the goal is to find the shortest proof game. The people who have been here a while have already seen it, so they should let the new guy have the first try.

Let's keep it up--we might even get the shortest proof game.

7 promoted pawns

1 pawn is left

7 pawns cant pass each other without capturing

but capturing is what is not allowed here as there isnt anything to capture

illegal

Avatar of n9531l1

So does that qualify as spam?

Avatar of Ilampozhil25

probably

it would have to be put in by somebody with VERY little thought

The improvement efforts on #685 seem to be stuck at 20 moves. Maybe it's time for a hint. Each side must make 15 captures, and if each move after the first could be a capture, the game would end after 16 moves. That probably can't happen, but the goal should be to get as close to a 16-move game as possible.

OK, that's not much of a hint. Here is a big hint. The target position can be reached in a 17-move game. Does that help?
