Interesting ed. My point though is these moral truths aren't anything like truths. They are imagined concepts and nothing more.

It's nonsensical to talk about what should be happening. It's only sensible to talk about what is happening. Accept it and deal with it.

Tom, It 'boils' down to, did 'JC' mean what he said, regarding Himself{?} Eg. a 'Truth'.. Or was He {or he}, the Greatest Liar/fraud, that ever lived !? .. Obviously.. Everyone, has to decide, for themselves.. {'free will'!} .. But, Not, I dare say.. without consequences.. Imagined, small.. Or perhaps, not.

As to what 'should be happening'.. I'm not sure, what you're referring to 'Tom.'

If, by that you mean, Everyone should acknowledge 'JC'/_od, for who he was.. Even He admitted, {in so many words}.. It Aint, gonna happen!

What I'm talking about Ed is that moral values aren't truths they are only what we imagine should happen. A truth is something that exists!

As for Jesus well some people sure do love. Nelson Mandela sure was a loving man. My wife is a loving person.

Ed 187. I like that. But the truth discovers us. In fact we are the truth! Nice picture.

we are the truth...........the whole universe is inside us..........like an empty space full of nothing and all at the same time.............

I have good reason to believe, that unacknowledged 'truths' aren't all-that-different, from a horse, wearing 'blinders'. Which, serve a purpose, of course, {for the 'horse'}.. Or even focusing, on 'chess' for instance, when playing chess.. But, to continually state, {in print}, your 'core beliefs'.. which, I don't doubt, you believe.. Acts, {whether you realize it, or not}.. as a recurring stubborn, and often erroneous view, of a Greater Reality.. that only serves to, fixate yourself.. In your presently admitted, {if 'coming-and-going}, mood, Funk- bewilderment!

'Nature' {if you will}, did Not intend, us sentient humans, to being, continually bewildered and unhappy! ..Yeah, a lot of us are.. But, that's 'casualty', at play. o:

By the way. Hawking in his book the theory of everything talks about all this stuff.

What I'm referring to in respect of points of view is called model dependent realism.>>>

You could call it real idealism also, where ideal models are considered real. An ideal model doesn't have to be entirely true .... just that it's an archetype that seems subjectively real. You could call God one. You could probably also call model dependent realism "ideal realism" and there are some who believe that ideal realism is entirely different from real idealism but whatever their subjective difference of emphasis is, it hasn't penetrated my skull as yet.

<<I think it's insightful to realise that sometimes when people are arguing they are both right!>>

From their points of view and according to the emphases and priorities they apply.

<<<They just both have a different point of view! Literally.>>>

Indeed.

i think the reality, the nature is simple..........but the mind make it complicated sometimes........i think that to be a good answer and the solution of something it must be easy.............if we are the witness of all...................can exist a sound without me?...........if there is nobody can exist it?.............the humman is the space where all begins and all ends.................and the time line is a construction of the mind........just a trick to keep us here in the matrix..............sorry my english is horrible...............i appologise.......i try to manage just as i can........

Opti it's interesting to hear an alternative idea.

Hawking talks about a force such as gravity being responsible for creating matter.

I liked your analysis but I don't particularly see why you expect there's only one universe.>>>>>

Because there's absolutely no evidence for anything more. Also, because "unverse" means "all in one" and it refers to everything. Not just everything we're aware of. As in "there's more in the universe than we can imagine .... etc etc etc". But that doesn't mean other universes, which is a bad idea. Firstly, if there were other universes then since *this* universe is by definition the boundary of our possible experience, we could never ever possibly be aware of "other universes". If we could be aware of them by any means at all then they'd be part of *our universe*.

All in all, the multiverse is a romantic idea entertained by some physicists, who don't have a proper discipline to their thinking, as well as by others who imagine that if physicists think it, the idea could be good. Hawking's thought isn't disciplined properly, for instance. He isn't a great thinker at all ..... just prolific and a popularist, which is very different.

The best argument is that creating the idea of an infinity of universes to solve the mathematical problems given us by *the* universe is really, really poor thinking. They would rather ceate a host of unknowns and confuse themselves and others entirely than admit they may not be the best mathematicians in the world. If they can't solve the problems, they would rather invent an elephant stsnding on a pinhead and supporting the universe with its trunk, some of them, than admit it.

<<Generally there are more than one in nature. Planets, stars, galaxies, why ought a universe be different?>>

I just answered that ... except it's "the" universe.

<<I've a feeling you're being egocentric. You want to be special. We are specks of dust in a universe of universes.>>

I'm not the one who's egocentric and I only try to apply a little self-discipline to thought, without which we wouldn't be in a position to even hold this conversation. The egocentricity is with those who invent untruths to make them seem grand and with those who perpetuate them to perpetuate an ultimately nihilistic manner of philosophising which can't even admit that the self is a reasonable way to encapsulate the idea of all experience applicable to one human unit. wink.png

Carolina 191. I can definitely relate to you. I think though we can see this the illusion is still in place.

I suppose because really consciousness does actually exist.

It's only the idea that this means we are separate and have control that's false.
