do you still disallow religious commentary. i note that your tos sais that it does but i note that religious comments are in the forums. what is the status of this tos ?
a quesion of limits for the mods.

The rules, while the wording may be precise, create swathes of gray areas that are left to the interpretation of individual mods. In fairness, to an extent they kind of have to do it because lawyers and statesmen and philosophers can spend their entire lives working on stuff like that and still screw it up really badly.

I believe I can speak for the mods in saying that IF you wanted to speak of those things from post 1, you would not be banned IF you spoke of them here---https://www.chess.com/groups/home/open-discussion The mods are here to moderate the site, not your posts. (And BTW, IF you find any money, its mine. I've been losing money in these forums for a week now
)

Has it gotten to the point where RJC speaks for the mods?! Is this actually happening?

I don't get the Ron Paul stuff, am I missing a Ron Paul joke, Blarg?
I think it just started as a joke about 'the doom America faced if we didn't elect him' because of how fervent his supporters were and ran from there.
And if that explanation was political enough to get this locked, I blame you!

Instead I'm just a bum

@oldhousecat It's very unlikely you would be banned for any of that. The threads would definitely be locked, though, and if you created multiple ones you would be warned. If you kept on doing it, then your account's ability to post any content would be restricted - possibly for a temporary period, possibly until further notice. If you then started creating sock puppet accounts and using profanity, then you might be banned.
Hope that helps!

To david STAFF.What precisely is wrong with political debate on the "off topic" section- provided of course it is legal and couched in terms of acceptable language?Another issue-is there a procedure for a member of this club who has started a thread to block another member who might present some views which although perfectly proper "objectively" might offend some "sensitive little blossom"?If there is a procedure for individuals to block-what is the basis for this "ultra vires" power? If it is allowable by the Administration please share with us the procedure on which it is done.I am very curious.

Political debate is not permitted in the public forums, as explicitly described in this post by the site ownership: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/forum-posting-rules---be-nice--no-religious-or-political-debate
You can find out about blocking in the FAQ at https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444796-how-can-i-block-another-user--

OK!
On behalf of all the members of Chess.com, we are ready to offer you THIS MUCH money for the ability to post about religion & politics.
And that's my FINAL offer
Awaiting your reply.

1 Often a thin dividing.line.between religious/political topics and acceptable subjects.
2.Because of the vast quantity of threads.posted in forums human.moderation.has I assume to be limited
3 robotic moderation is I suggest of dubious value at best.Phraseology by posters can be ambiguous ..Some acceptable postings may be censored whilst what are clearly unacceptable are permitted to remain.unchallenged
4 also some robotic analyses of played matches leaves in.my view a lot to be desired.
Perhaps resources should be diverted to provide robots with a refresher course
Alternatively recruit the talent of the "thought police".In this day and age of widespread digital "snooping" possibly they might fit the bill.a lot better!
what is the range of political correctness that the site allows or does not allow ?
